Report: Premier League side now want Liverpool's 'machine', could bring £15m in to Anfield

Nottingham Forest want Neco Williams from Liverpool, according to reports. This comes after the Reds set their asking price.

This comes from 90min. They claim that Nottingham Forest have had to give up on retaining Djed Spence. The right-back spent last season on loan there from Middlesbrough but will now likely move to Tottenham Hotspur.

And that has Forest turning their attention elsewhere. Neco Williams is one name on their list after his very impressive loan spell with Fulham. The Welshman jumped right into the Cottagers XI over the second half of the campaign as they won the Championship.

Williams is reportedly available for teams to buy, too. The Liverpool Echo recently reported that Liverpool put a £15m valuation on their young right-back.

Now we need to see if Forest are willing to pay it.

Nottingham Forest want Neco Williams

In all honesty, this would be a wonderful move for Williams – though, we imagine he’s wanting Fulham to come in for him. It’s the exact kind of move he should be after, too, as he looks to progress from the Championship.

But we’ll be sad to see him go. This is a player Jurgen Klopp once labelled a ‘machine’ for his efforts in training and that sums Williams up. He’s always improving, always working hard and we believe there’s a very bright future there.

It’s just unlikely to be at Liverpool. Playing right-back at Anfield is virtually impossible if you’re not Trent Alexander-Arnold – a player only marginally older than Williams but recognised as the world’s best.

And so selling makes sense. Liverpool have quite a bit of work to do this summer and that £15m would be a wonderful bonus. A record-breaking transfer for Darwin Nunez isn’t exactly going to fund itself, after all.

While we’ll be sad to see Williams leave, it’s the best move for all parties.
