A pundit in Portugal has given the latest update as Liverpool bid for Darwin Nunez. The Benfica forward appears to be in their crosshairs.
Reports continue to grow that Liverpool are moving for Darwin Nunez and it appears they’ve made a bid. That’s the latest from Portugal as pundit Nuno Dias told CMTV that Benfica have the offer in hand.
“I have the information that Benfica already have the bid,” said Dias. “The bid is already at Luz, it’s indeed of €80m plus €20m, and the player would’ve already said he’d sign it tomorrow [if possible].”
This comes after Fabrizio Romano claimed that Liverpool had a bid in for the same numbers. It works out to around £85m, should the add ons come to pass, making it a transfer record for the Reds.
Benfica need to decide whether that’s enough, of course. Reports from the last week, like with CMJornal, suggest it will be – they claimed an asking price of exactly €100m.
Things are moving quickly, then.
Liverpool bid for Darwin Nunez
Liverpool aren’t wasting time here and clearly have indications that both Benfica and Nunez are ready to accept a deal this week. The Reds just need to hope that this is the deal they’ll accept.
And again, we get the impression it is. Romano’s claims that Manchester United are also in contact with Nunez’s agent speed up Liverpool’s approach. They’ll want to get this done before their rivals can get things in order under Erik Ten Hag.
As for Nunez, we believe he’s exactly what Liverpool need. The suggestion that they’ll go anywhere near their transfer record suggests they certainly see things that way and knowing how they do business, this one could be wrapped up fast.
This is the one to keep an eye on, then. Liverpool have their man in their sights.
