Ally McCoist has been baffled by news that Sadio Mane is looking to leave Liverpool for Bayern Munich.
Speaking to TalkSPORT, McCoist insisted that he was completely puzzled as to why Mane would want to leave Liverpool.
“Why would he want to leave? Somebody will have to explain to me why he’d want to leave Liverpool and go, I don’t know, to Germany,” said the pundit.
“I get it, I get that Bayern Munich are a massive club, I get the whole thing. But you’re playing in the best league in the world, without doubt for one of the two best teams in the league and one of the best teams in Europe. I don’t get it.”

It’s perhaps a question that we’ll never quite know the absolute answer too. Whatever McCoist thinks, it looks like Mane is pushing ahead with his bid to leave The Reds.
The latest on Mane
Liverpool reportedly rejected Bayern’s opening offer for Mane on Sunday night. The reported bid of £21m with £4m in add-ons was rejected out of hand.
Since then, there has been reports from The Daily Mail that it would take a bid of closer to £35m for Liverpool to ‘take it seriously.’

Liverpool had previously been claimed to be holding out for a sum of around £42.5m. With all this in mind, it would seem as though the two clubs aren’t a million miles apart.
Unless Mane has a serious change of heart, all signs point to this one getting done.
Leaving a legend
After six years, it will be strange to see Mane lining up for another team. The one consolation for Liverpool fans is that he’s joining a team abroad.
There is a possibility of course that Liverpool could face Mane in the Champions League. The German champions will be in pot 1 for the Group Stage draw, whereas Liverpool will be in pot 2.

With Liverpool’s defenders having faced Mane day after day for over half-a-decade hopefully they’d be able to manage him.
But the Senegal legend has an excellent record in Europe. He’d always be a danger. If he was to come back to Anfield, he’d surely receive a brilliant reception from the home crowd.
Mane will depart a Liverpool legend. It’s disappointing that he’s chosen to leave the club with so much more still to give. But when you’ve done what he was for Liverpool, you deserve to leave in the way you see fit.
