'One of the most amazing things I've ever seen': Pundit now shares what blew him away about Liverpool star

Danny Murphy has claimed that Sadio Mane’s durability for Liverpool is ‘one of the most amazing’ things he’s ever seen.

Speaking to TalkSPORT, the former Liverpool midfielder claimed that The Reds have already replaced Mane with Luis Diaz.

“It does seem that there’s been an obvious effort from Liverpool to replace him,” said Murphy. “When you think of the way Luis Diaz has come in, playing off that left-hand side generally – because Mane has been through the middle a lot, especially towards the end of the season.

“He’s tenacious, he’s a goal-scorer, he plays with the same energy, the tenacity, all those things that Mane gives, Diaz is very similar with his traits. So he looks like a replacement, if you like, for Mane.”

Like a lot of Liverpool fans no doubt, Murphy thinks it’s still too early to let Mane leave the club.

“I think it’s a shame because I think he’s still got so much to give. His durability is one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen,” claimed the pundit.

Mane the machine

As well as all his obvious ability with the football, one of Mane’s most useful qualities is his availability.

He did have one or two little issues early on in his Liverpool career. Since the beginning of the 2018/19 season though, he’s missed a mere 12 Premier League games.

In the 140 games he played over that time, the 30-year-old managed 67 goals for Liverpool. It hasn’t been just that’s he’s been on the pitch, he’s been contributing endlessly too.

Availability is one of the hardest things to replicate in football. A player might have all the technical skills in the world, but if you can’t get him fit, he’s not worth the hassle.

Liverpool could spend £50m or £60m on a top-class forward only to see him suffer with injuries.

The Reds knew what they were getting from Mane, and Mohamed Salah as well, and that might be the hardest thing of all to move on from.

Mane is of course still a Liverpool player. But with Bayern now making their intentions official, it seems as though that will only be the case for so long.

As the Senegal legend moves into his thirties, it remains to be see whether he can keep up the same level of fitness. Mane is notorious for looking after himself in the best possible way, though.

You wouldn’t bet against him running rings around defenders every week for years to come.
