Jurgen Klopp had a message for Liverpool fans after the Reds lost the Champions League final on Saturday night. The boss has a ‘strong feeling’.
It was heartbreak for Liverpool in Paris as they lost 1-0 to Real Madrid. The Reds played their third Champions League final in five years but much like their first, they couldn’t find a way past Los Blancos.
And this one felt particularly frustrating. Liverpool dominated the territory in this game, peppering Real’s goal with 24 shots. In return, Carlo Ancelotti’s managed just four. The problem is that one of those went in and for a third consecutive final, none of Liverpool’s found the net.
So this was a mixed bag. Liverpool can feel relatively positive about their performance but that won’t make up for the feeling of a massive missed opportunity.
How did Jurgen Klopp feel about it, then? He talked to BT Sport after the game and made a little early prediction for next year.
Jurgen Klopp on the Champions League final
“I have a strong feeling we come again,” said Klopp. “That’s how it is because the boys are really competitive, we have an outstanding group together, will have again next year and then we go again.
“Obviously, we have to try a bit more with others. Where is it next year? The Champions League final? Yeah, book the hotel.”

Well, how’s that for confidence? Klopp saw enough here to believe that Liverpool can immediately bounce back and the be fair, he’s got a good reason to feel that.
The Reds answered their defeat in 2018 by making smart summer signings and winning the Champions League the following year. The boss quite plainly believes they can repeat that in 2022.
And who are we to doubt him on that? Roll on next season.
