Liverpool will look to cash in on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain during this summer’s transfer window.

That’s according to The Mirror, who claim that Liverpool are now ready to listen to offers for the 28-year-old.

It’s reported that the player is hugely popular within the dressing room at Anfield, but will now be moved on for ‘in excess’ of £10m.

With a contract expiring in 2023, Liverpool are reportedly keen not to lose Oxlade-Chamberlain for nothing next year.

Both Aston Villa and West Ham United are said to be early front-runners to sign the former England international.

End of the road for Ox

This news doesn’t come as a surprise. Oxlade-Chamberlain hasn’t seen a single minute of football during the last two months of the season for Liverpool.

With games coming practically every three days in that time period, he hasn’t had a sniff.

Even without the additional issue of his contract situation, that kind of lack of playing time usually leads to an exit for a player. There have been some reports that Liverpool will retain Ox this summer. But it seems more likely than not that he’ll move on.

It also comes as no surprise that the player is hugely popular in the dressing room still. We haven’t seen much of him of late, but Ox is usually seen with a smile on his face whilst entertaining some of his teammates.

Jurgen Klopp has also praised his attitude and quality whilst he has been left out of the side recently.

No doubt the 28-year-old will be missed from that point of view. In terms of his contributions on the pitch of late though, Klopp has long-since stopped viewing him as an option.

Liverpool are better of getting some return on the £35m they paid for him while they still can.
