'Big favourite': Journalist claims interest from PSG is causing Sadio Mané to 'hesitate' on new contract

PSG are now ‘big favourites’ to sign Sadio Mané from Liverpool, according to one journalist. Mané’s contract expires in 2023.

This comes from Bild journalist Christian Falk. He claims that Paris Saint-Germain are now the ‘big favourites’ to sign Sadio Mané if he leaves Liverpool. That latter part is far from a sure thing.

These aren’t the only two clubs hoping to entice Mané into signing his future to them, though. Bayern Munich also want the Senegal star, as has been reported consistently over the last few weeks. It’s certainly the line from Sky Germany.

PSG are apparently a problem for both Liverpool and Bayern, though. The wages now on offer have Mané hesitating over any kind of agreement and it appears this one has some way to run. The Parisians, though, are certainly a problem.

PSG want to sign Sadio Mané

It does make complete sense that PSG would look at Mané. Kylian Mbappe’s future is completely up in the air, Lionel Messi turns 35 this summer, and getting Neymar onto the pitch is a long-term problem.

In fact, there may be no better signing for PSG than Mané if they want to compete with Europe’s best over the next few years. He’s in unbelievably good form and has a skillset to improve any team in the world.

But we won’t start panicking just yet. For one, Liverpool reportedly aren’t asking Mané to sign a new contract until the end of the season. All talks over new deals are on hold, says the Liverpool Echo.

So until Liverpool formally put a contract in front of him, we don’t think there’s too much to worry about. PSG may be a problem but it could be that the Reds get things done quickly. Let’s see what happens in June.
