Real Madrid have now made contact with the representatives of Aurelien Tchouameni, who Liverpool want to sign.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who claim that the Spanish Champions are hopeful of beating Liverpool to the player.
However, The Reds continue to be favourites to land Tchouameni. It’s claimed that Liverpool are still the player’s priority and Jurgen Klopp is a big fan.
Liverpool can reportedly offer a better financial package to the 22-year-old, and Monaco’s demands ‘should not be an obstacle.’
That hasn’t stopped Madrid making their case to the player though. They are attempting to convince Tchouameni to move to the Spanish capital. As reported by Foot Mercato though, these attempts may already be ‘too late.’
Race hots up for Tchouameni
As confirmed by his appearance in the Ligue 1 Team of the Season last night, Tchouameni is one of the hottest prospects in European football.

With two lovely goals last weekend for Monaco, his stock continues to rise.
Liverpool are on the lookout for a quality young midfielder to lead them into their next cycle of success under Klopp. Tchouameni would appear to have all the attributes needed to be a success at Anfield.
Bidding war bad news for Liverpool
Foot Mercato are confident here that Monaco’s demands for the player wouldn’t be prohibitive to Liverpool. That seems a little shaky though, when the price being quoted is £60m (AS) and seemingly rising all the time.
In that sense, Madrid’s presence may be enough to spook Liverpool away from a bidding war. Who Liverpool want to sign often has a lot to do with price. FSG tend to have a price in mind that they’d like to pay and they don’t often get outfoxed in the transfer market.
If Madrid continue to push the cost of the player up, The Reds are unlikely to go too much over their own valuation.
Tchouameni looks like he could be worth it though. So Liverpool may have to pay up, or risk losing out on a top, top talent.
