'I'm really, really exhausted': Spurs man says 1-1 draw with Liverpool was 'one of the toughest' he's ever played

Son Heung-Min says Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool as ‘one of the toughest’ he’s ever played. He was left exhausted.

Tottenham Hotspur managed to stop Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday. They came away with a 1-1 draw – the first Premier League side to get anything there in 2022.

It was a hard-fought game, too, that saw Spurs take the lead. Liverpool had to try everything they could to find an equaliser as Antonio Conte’s men threw everything they had defensively.

In fact, Son Heung-Min says this was ‘one of the toughest’ games he’s ever played in.

“Literally, I’m really, really exhausted,” he told BT Sport. “I’m really, really tired after this game.

“This was one of the toughest games I’ve ever faced. The point is always good at Anfield, it’s obviously a difficult place and hard work pays off.”

Liverpool 1-1 Tottenham Hotspur

Liverpool certainly did all they could to exhaust Spurs. They passed the ball well, kept it moving quickly and forced the visitors from side to side. Unfortunately, they were up to it.

Spurs defended valiantly and simply covered every blade of grass. Conte knew what his team needed to do and they did exactly that. It’s one of those games.

Liverpool were good here, too. For the first-half, in particular, they were a bit of luck away from taking a true stranglehold on the game – things just didn’t land for them. And that’s partly because Spurs forced their own luck.

It’s a big blow in the title race, of course, and Manchester City can take a three-point lead tomorrow. Liverpool just need to hope that Newcastle United can match Spurs’ intensity and force Pep Guardiola’s side into dropped points.

We’ll certainly have our fingers crossed for what is now one of the biggest games of the season for the Reds – even if they’re not out there playing.
