Real Madrid could sell Casemiro and rival Liverpool for Aurélien Tchouaméni, according to reports in Brazil. The Reds have a rival, it seems.
This comes from UOL in Brazil. They claim that Real Madrid are open to selling Casemiro as they attempt to invest in younger midfielders.
One glance at their star central trio – Casemiro, Luka Modric and Toni Kroos – and you see a clear problem. Casemiro, at 30, is by far the youngest of the three. There’s not really a long-term plan here.
Real do have Eduardo Camavinga, of course, but that’s not enough. They want new stars and selling their Brazilian is the best possible way of raising funds while creating space.
Real have a replacement in mind, too, with reported Liverpool target Aurélien Tchouaméni. AS reported this week that AS Monaco would want around £60m to sell the Frenchman – a price Los Blancos don’t like. Selling Casemiro, however, would make it more manageable.
The Times recently claimed that Liverpool have a strong interest in Tchouaméni, too. The midfielder will likely leave Monaco in the summer – and there will be a fight for his signature.
Real Madrid could sell Casemiro to land Aurélien Tchouaméni
We’re big fans of Tchouaméni and the depth he’d add to Liverpool’s squad is considerable. The only real question for the Reds is if spending £60m on a player who may or may not be in their best XI is worthwhile. It likely is – if only for the 22-year-old’s potential.
And it says a lot about Tchouaméni if Real are willing to sell Casemiro to land him. Carlo Ancelotti labelled his holding midfielder ‘unique’ back in January, believing he can’t be replaced. Selling him would be a considerable risk, then – but one they might take for the Monaco man.
If they do take that risk, then Liverpool’s chances dwindle. The Reds can improve their chances by acting ASAP but the longer they wait, the more likely Real do something crazy to land Tchouaméni.
