LeBron James had an instant reaction to Liverpool making the UEFA Champions League final later this month. The Reds beat Villarreal.

Liverpool are into the UEFA Champions League final once again. This time they beat Villarreal over two legs, with a 3-2 in at El Madrigal tonight settling their semi-final.

It’s their third Champions League final in five years and, of course, their third under Jurgen Klopp. It’s been an incredible period of European success – now they just need to get that trophy.

Villarreal made them fight for it, though. They forced an early goal to make things nervy and then found another right before half-time. That levelled the tie and, arguably, made Unai Emery’s side look like slight favourites to turn things around.

But Jurgen Klopp made some changes. He brought of Diogo Jota for Luis Diaz, putting the Colombian on the left. Sadio Mané then moved centrally to play the False 9 role he’s been thriving in. Above all, Liverpool were just far more aggressive in that second half.

Mohamed Salah assisted Fabinho for the first before Trent Alexander-Arnold assisted Diaz for a second. Mané got in behind for a third to cap a mad 12 minutes that won the tie for Liverpool.

James, who had time to watch the match as the Lakers definitely don’t have a Play-Off game tonight, echoed the thoughts of fans. It’s onto the final now.

Liverpool are chasing a Quadruple, of course, and getting to the Champions League final is a step on that road. The mentality has to remain the same, though – one game at a time. Keep up this momentum and the Reds might just make history.
