Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler reacted to Jurgen Klopp’s contract extension on Thursday. The boss will be around until 2026.
Jurgen Klopp committed his long-term future to Liverpool on Thursday. He’s agreed to a contract extension, keeping him at the club until at least 2026.
It’s fantastic news, of course, as his previous deal expired in 2024. The boss had openly talked about walking away at that point, wanting to go on a sabbatical. In fact, there was already speculation as to who would replace him in two years – Pep Lijnders? Steven Gerrard?
Instead, Liverpool have four more years of Klopp at the helm. Robbie Fowler was among those singing in delight with the news as he Tweeted out lyrics to the Kop’s new Klopp anthem.
Jurgen Klopp agrees Liverpool contract extension
It’s difficult to put into words exactly what this means for Liverpool. There’s the emotional side of things, of course, with the love for Klopp incredibly apparent to all.
But just in terms of building for the future, this is massive. It’s a true blow to every side wishing to compete at the top of the Premier League, it’s a sign of intent to every Liverpool player, and it makes the next few years infinitely easier.
Liverpool can now plan for their next stage with Klopp in mind – something they hadn’t been able to do. So many stars have contracts expiring in 2023, after all, and the Reds will need to move into another era soon.
Doing so with Klopp at the helm – even for just the first few years – puts the groundwork in place. Liverpool can build around his style of play and continuity, which just makes everything easier.
And that’s just a very vague understanding of all this. Klopp’s decision to renew is the best news Liverpool could have had this season outside of winning the Quadruple.
But maybe they can have both.
