Bayern München v Villarreal CF Quarter Final Leg Two - UEFA Champions League

Arnaut Danjuma gets his Liverpool audition at Anfield on Wednesday night - RTK View

Liverpool get a first-hand look at Arnaut Danjuma tonight. They could come away from the Villarreal game desperate to sign him.

Liverpool are massive fans of Arnaut Danjuma, according to various reports. There have been links between the two dating back almost a year, in fact, and the Reds supposedly hold an interest still.

Go back to last summer and Marca claimed Liverpool wanted Danjuma. They had a rival in trying to sign him from Bournemouth, however – Villarreal. The Dutchman would cost around £20m for whoever signed him, which, of course, the Yellow Submarine did.

But Liverpool didn’t forget about Danjuma. Fabrizio Romano was saying in November that he believed there was an interest. The Athletic said similar in January, while Goal reported just two weeks ago that the Reds want him.

Until now, Liverpool have watched Danjuma from afar and liked what they saw. On Wednesday evening, however, they’ll get to see the winger up close. And they could come away desperate to sign him.

Liverpool vs Arnaut Danjuma

If Liverpool have tracked Danjuma for this long, it’s safe to say they’re huge fans. So how much will they rate him if he performs against them in a Champions League semi-final?

There’s a good chance that Danjuma will shine, too. He’s already caught the eye in this Champions League campaign, with Michael Owen labelling him ‘absolutely exceptional’ after he performed at Old Trafford.

Liverpool could easily come away from Anfield on Wednesday thinking the same, then. The Reds even have previous for signing players who caught the eye against them – both Takumi Minamino and Alisson Becker are examples of that.

So if they like Danjuma already, watching him trouble them in a massive game will only drive their interest higher. And while it might be a tad infuriating for them to sign him after passing at £20m, there’s little doubt that Jurgen Klopp and co. could turn him into a star player.

He’s undoubtedly the one to watch on Wednesday night.
