Barcelona have held talks with Mohamed Salah’s entourage, according to reports, and are now waiting on Liverpool. The Reds have a decision to make.
This comes from Sport. They claim that Barcelona have spoken to Mohamed Salah’s entourage and made it know that they’re interested in a transfer.
There is significant doubt about his future, after all, as the Egyptian’s contract expires in 2023. Liverpool want to tie him down to a new one but haven’t found a deal yet – and the clock continues to tick.
The Reds may not want to lose Salah for nothing in a year’s time, potentially forcing them into a transfer this summer. That’s what Barcelona are counting on, in fact, and are now waiting to see Liverpool’s next move. If they put Salah on the market, the Catalonians will pounce.
Barcelona want Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah
This is one that won’t go away and there’s no real reason to doubt this one. Barcelona almost certainly do want to sign Salah – signing an attacker in their 30s is very on-brand for them.
They also do need to wait and see what happens, along with everyone else. Liverpool and Salah clearly have the same general goal here – a contract extension. It’s how they agree to one is the problem and it is, unfortunately, complicated.

The Mirror claims Liverpool put £400k per week on the table for Salah but couldn’t strike a deal. That tells us that it’s the length of the contract that’s a genuine problem here or it’s difficult to know what the issue is.
Salah is turning 30 this year, after all, and a big-money, long-term contract is a scary proposition for Liverpool. Is he going to worth that kind of money at 33 or 34? Probably not, in all likelihood, but it’s also not out of the question.
We do believe there are ways to get the best out of Salah, though, and it might mean following examples elsewhere. Hopefully, Liverpool can find the right common ground soon enough because Barcelona are unlikely to be the only club waiting on a decision. This summer could be a nervous one.
