Villarreal star Pau Torres picked out four Liverpool players that worry him ahead of the Champions League meeting at Anfield next week.
It’s now under a week until Liverpool get their UEFA Champions League semi-final with Villarreal underway. The first leg takes place at Anfield on Wednesday and it promises to be a hell of a game.
Villarreal are huge underdogs, certainly, but they were against both Juventus and Bayern Munich. Unai Emery’s side put both out, however. They’ll back themselves to make it a hattrick of upsets.
But it also means coming up against more world-class attacking threats and a need to keep them at bay once again. That was the situation Marca put to Villarreal’s Pau Torres this week: Dusan Vlahovic, Roberto Lewandowski and now Mohamed Salah.
Torres, though, thinks it would be foolish to focus on Salah. Liverpool have at least four players for him to worry about.
“Yes, but Salah, [Sadio] Mané, Diogo Jota, Luís Díaz – there are many [threats] and very good ones,” he told Marca. “Each one with their own characteristics but all with speed.
“We will have to be very attentive, defend as a team, that gives us chances.”
Liverpool vs Villarreal
That’s the brilliant thing about Liverpool right now – their strength in depth up top is just ridiculous. Torres didn’t even mention Roberto Firmino, in fact!

We think Liverpool boast the best selection of forwards around and it’s a strength that carries them through four competitions this season. Even with a massive Merseyside derby on Sunday, Jurgen Klopp will find a fresh and threatening trio to lead the line against Villarreal.
It’s worth pointing out just how impressive Diaz is, too. He’s forced his way into this group in no time at all, establishing himself as one of Liverpool’s most dangerous players. It’s a surprise, certainly, but a welcome one.
Liverpool have never looked more threatening.
