Manchester United legends Roy Keane and Gary Neville predicted the Premier League title race on Sky Sports. Liverpool or Manchester City?

The Premier League title race is well and truly hotting up as Liverpool finally climbed above Manchester City last night. It’s the first time they’ve held top spot at the end of the day since October – though, City have a chance to regain it tonight.

So with six games left for the Reds and seven for Pep Guardiola’s men, who’s going all the way? City have that game in hand, of course, and the knowledge that winning every fixture delivers the trophy. It’s not in Liverpool’s hands, then, but they do have the form.

Manchester United legends Roy Keane and Gary Neville each had a go at predicting the race for Sky Sports. They couldn’t find common ground, however, picking different teams.

“I actually think City will edge it,” said Keane. “That’s my answer. I just think they’re good enough to win all of their games, simple as that.

“If they do slip up then there’s a chance Liverpool might, they have the momentum and they’re fantastic. But I just think City will edge it – simple as that.”

“I think Liverpool because of the momentum and their spirit,” said Neville. “City not having that striker at some point could hurt them. I also think City being in the Champions League will impact their league as well.

“That’s a big one for Pep Guardiola and those players after what happened last year.”

The Premier League title race

It’s starting to get very, very tense. Liverpool played United off the park last night but even just a 1-0 win for City against Brighton puts things as they were.

Honestly, it’s impossible to predict as both teams look capable of winning every game. It’s unlikely both will but who slips up where? It’s a guessing game.

What Liverpool can control, though, is their goal difference. It could well be that the two rivals finish on level points, given how close things are. The Reds really boosted their chances in that regard with a 4-0 win, meaning they lead the GD stakes by nine.

That’s almost an extra point, if they can keep that momentum going. That’s all they can do, though. Win games and hope City slip up again.

It won’t be an easy watch.
