Mohamed Salah picked out on Liverpool teammate as ‘doing an unbelievable’ job after a tactical change by Jurgen Klopp. Sadio Mané is starting to thrive.
Liverpool thrashed Manchester United once again on Tuesday evening with a 4-0 win at Anfield. It pairs beautifully with their 5-0 result at Old Trafford earlier in the season, really.
And once again, Mohamed Salah caught the eye for Liverpool. He couldn’t quite match his hattrick at their place but the Egyptian did find the net twice to go with an assist for the opener.
He took advantage of two perfect passes from teammates to get them, too. The second – and Liverpool’s fourth – saw Diogo Jota split the defence as Harry Maguire went walkabout. Salah dinked the goalkeeper thanks to a deflection to wrap the game up.
But Salah’s first goal (Liverpool’s second) was truly special. The Reds strung 25 passes together, with everyone but Virgil van Dijk touching the ball. They eventually found Sadio Mané, who hit a round-the-corner pass over the top for Salah to run onto.
He controlled it expertly and fired home, as you’d expect. It was a fantastic assist from Mané as he continues to thrive in the False 9 role. Salah certainly sees it that way.
“Great ball from Sadio,” he told Sky Sports after the game. “He’s playing no.9 more but doing an unbelievable job. Scoring goals as well.”
Sadio Mané for Liverpool
Mané is playing some wonderful stuff right now, ever since Jurgen Klopp moved him into a central position. He’s showing a perfect ability to drop deep and influence the game, while still keeping up some fantastic scoring numbers.

In fact, he’s scoring at an even better rate than he was out wide – though, that was always coming.
We think he might just end up rivalling Salah as Liverpool’s Player of the Year. Mané isn’t just scoring goals, after all, but important ones and it feels as though he’s driving the Reds towards trophies this season.
A world-class player at the top of his game right now.
