Liverpool fans are preparing to send a message of support to Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo during tonight’s game at Anfield.
That’s according to The Mirror, who use Reds fans’ activity on social media to suggest that there could be a round of applause in the seventh minute of the game.
Ronaldo will not travel to Anfield with the United squad following the tragic death of his baby son, which was announced on Monday evening.

Rivalries put aside
It’s a classy move from Liverpool fans who look ready to put rivalries to one side to lend their support to Ronaldo,
The 37-year-old was coming into the game off the back of a hat-trick last time out against Norwich City. Ralf Rangnick’s side have struggled to put together a consistent run of games in their battle for a top four finish, but Ronaldo has remained a relatively consistent source of goals.
That treble took his season’s tally to 21 goals in all competitions. With 15 to his name in the Premier League, he is attempting to chase down Mohamed Salah in the race for the Golden Boot.
United already have several injury issues to contend with and look depleted ahead of taking on Jurgen Klopp’s rampant Liverpool.

Footballing matters pale into insignificance in the face of such a tragic personal loss, though. Liverpool fans are unfortunately no strangers to devastating loss, and it’s heart-warming to see a rival being treated in the same respectful manner in which a friend would be.
With so much on the line for both Liverpool and United tonight, the atmosphere is certain to be lively under the lights at Anfield.
For a few moments though, both fans look set to pause the animosity to send a gesture of support to the United legend.
