Jamie Carragher had nothing but love for Sadio Mané after his display for Liverpool on Saturday. The forward stole the show.
Jamie Carragher was quick to show his love for Sadio Mané on Saturday after Liverpool’s no.10 produced two magnificent first-half moments. It was a first half that the Reds utterly dominated, of course, racing into a 3-0 lead.
It was the first time that a team led City by three at halftime since 2018 – when Liverpool did it in the Champions League. They were rampant and Mané was the biggest part of that.
Ibrahima Konate had put the Reds into a 1-0 lead before Mané forced the second all on his own. His pressing put City goalkeeper Zack Steffan under intense pressure, forcing him into a poor first touch and some hesitation. Mané then essentially tackled the ball into the net.
And if that was an example of Mané’s work-rate, his second showed off his outstanding quality. A brilliant move from Liverpool resulted in the Senegal star pinging a first-time volley inside the near post. It was a wonderful finish to complete a first-half brace.

Understandably, Carragher had nothing but love for Mané after both goals. He took to Twitter to show as much.
“I love Sadio Mané”, he wrote after the first one before going into a little more detail for the second.
“What a player you’ve been & still are for [Liverpool] Sadio,” said Carragher,
And what justified praise it is. Mané really did show off his entire game here and did it from the False 9 role we’ve seen in recent weeks. In fact, he just keeps getting better and better in that position.
He’s able to press and roam with freedom, his playmaking has improved and Mané is scoring more and more goals. It’s been a brilliant change, one that’s taken an already-sensational player to another level.
