Jurgen Klopp delayed his post-match tradition after Liverpool beat Manchester City 3-2 in their FA Cup semi-final. The Reds are into the FA Cup final.
What a crazy afternoon at Wembley that was. Liverpool looked utterly dominant at halftime, carrying a 3-0 lead into the break. It’s the first time any side led Manchester City by three goals after 45 minutes since 2018 when Liverpool did it in the Champions League.
This was a similarly emphatic display, even if it relied on a bit of luck and some mistakes from City. It certainly looked good in contrast to the second half.
Liverpool just didn’t have things go their way, with some missed chances not quite falling for them and City taking two of theirs. It set up a tense finish, though one the Reds were able to see out.
And with that, Jurgen Klopp progresses from his first FA Cup semi-final to his first FA Cup final. Liverpool will face either Chelsea or Crystal Palace at Wembley on May 14th.
That’s a reason to celebrate, then. However, Klopp didn’t head for the Liverpool fans after the final whistle for his post-match fist-pump – now a tradition from the German. Instead, it took intervention from James Milner to give the fans their moment.
“Millie told me I have to do it,” Klopp said after the game. “I actually wanted to go but he said ‘you have to’. So, I did it because of Millie.”

We’re glad Milner stepped in because it was an incredible moment at Wembley. Sadio Mané could barely get through his post-match interview, the ovation was so loud.
It’s just another fantastic achievement from this side, which has secured several massive results over the last few weeks. The big games keep on coming, though – Manchester United visit Anfield next.
And honestly, a positive result there might bring an even louder ovation from the boss. We can’t wait.
