Liverpool have eyes on FC Porto midfielder Vitinha, according to reports. The 22-year-old is enjoying a breakout season.

This comes from Record. The Portuguese outlet believe Liverpool are one of three major European clubs looking at Vitinha right now.

Along with Bayern Munich and Lazio, the Reds could try and tempt FC Porto into a sale this summer. The absolute maximum price would be around £33m, given Vitinha’s release clause, but there’s a sense that he could move for under that.

Certainly, the player is one to watch should the Reds fancy boosting their midfield for next season.

Liverpool look at Vitinha

This has been a breakout season for Vitinha, who has gone from Wolves reject to Porto star in the space of a year. He spent last season in the Premier League – but only got 513 minutes.

That shows just how far Vitinha has come. Now he’s a player who wins tackles, interceptions, creates chances and gets shots off in every game. An all-action player and the kind Liverpool really like to have in midfield.

And at 22, Vitinha is at the perfect age to invest in. Liverpool need to do just that over the next few seasons, too, as both Thiago and Jordan Henderson are past 30 – let alone James Milner.

Vitinha fits the bill for Liverpool’s next generation and while his rise has been dramatic, it’s not a shock. Then-Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo was a big fan of the player, even if things didn’t click.

“We are pleased with Vitor. He’s a young player – but full of talent and quality,” Nuno said in March, via Shropshire Live.

Now Vitinha appears to be fulfilling his potential, right at a time when Liverpool need to rebuild their midfield. Perhaps the stars align to seal an Anfield move this summer.
