Kostas Tsimikas has spoken of his delight at being given his very own song by Liverpool fans.
Talking to LFCTV GO after his Man of the Match display against Benfica last night, Tsimikas said he had been listening to the song every day.
“I’m very, very happy for that, I heard it almost every day,” said the Greek. “Hopefully they sing it on the pitch one day. As a player, these things give you extra motivation and it (was) a very, very special moment when I heard it the first time.”
If he continues to put in the kind of game-defining displays like the one last night, no doubt it’ll be belted out at Anfield before long.
Tsimikas gets his song
Tsimikas recently appeared on a ‘Call Yourself a Teammate’ video from Liverpool FC on YouTube. Competing against Thiago Alcantara and Diogo Jota, the trio were asked to find a Liverpool teammate to sing their fan-made song.

As the only player without a chant, Tsimikas was left asking Ibrahima Konate to make one up on the spot. Konate tried his best with a freestyle rap, but unfortunately it was all in French.
As a result, some Liverpool fans attempted to create a more terrace-friendly chant for Kostas to the tune of ABBA’s ‘Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!’
Judging by Tsimikas’ reaction as seen on Twitter, he’s a huge fan of the tune.
The perfect squad player
Despite his relative lack of playing time, Tsimikas seems to be really popular member of the Liverpool squad.
His unbounding energy and positivity around the AXA Training ground is exactly the kind of thing that Jurgen Klopp looks for in a squad player.

Coupled with his excellent performances when asked to deputise for Andy Robertson, he is looking like the perfect back-up player for Liverpool.
In years gone by there would be a massive drop-off when first-choice players were rotated out of the team. With players like Tsimikas playing second fiddle though, it just goes to highlight how strong this current group is.
