Alberto Moreno sends four-word message to Liverpool fans after setting up potential CL semi-final at Anfield

Alberto Moreno has said that he will see Liverpool fans soon after his Villarreal team knocked Bayern Munich out of the Champions League last night.

Moreno took to Instagram to document his team’s celebrations of an historic night for them. The Spanish left-back noticed some comments from fans of his former club and responded with a simple four word message.

“See you Liverpool fans!” said a jubilant Moreno.

The 29-year-old also sent a message to Liverpool fan page Liverpool Goals. Commenting underneath a post congratulating him on his teams victory, Moreno wrote “See you soon Anfield.”

The La Liga club shocked Bayern to qualify for the Champions League semi-final for the second time in their history. There they’ll face Liverpool, if Jurgen Klopp’s team can get past Benfica this evening.

Moreno will be injured for the clash as he is currently recovering from an ACL injury sustained in March. By the sounds of it though, this hasn’t dented his enthusiasm for a potential return to Anfield.

Liverpool’s path to Paris opens up

All things told, last night’s result was fantastic news for Liverpool. Although there’s no way that Klopp will underestimate Villarreal should his team progress tonight, there’s no question that Liverpool now have a favourable path to the final in Paris.

It should give The Reds added motivation heading into tonight’s second-leg against Benfica.

But The Yellow Submarine are certainly no mugs. They had already sank Juventus before they disposed of the six-time winners Bayern yesterday.

Prior to that, they famously won the Europa League last season. Former Arsenal boss Unai Emery has worked wonders in the Spanish town, which is home to just 50,000 people.

Extra motivation for The Reds

Despite Villarreal’s excellence in Europe, they currently sit seventh in La Liga. They look virtually certain to miss out on the Champions League next season.

Either way, Klopp won’t allow Liverpool players’ eyes to drift from getting the job over the line at Anfield tonight.

Moreno was a popular member of Klopp’s dressing room before he left in 2019. It’s likely that one or two of Liverpool’s team have exchanged messages of congratulations with their former teammate.

In a group as packed full of winners as Liverpool’s is, that will only strengthen their resolve to ensure they do book a place in the last four this evening.
