Liverpool Under-23s roared into the final of the Lancashire Senior Cup yesterday with a 4-1 win over Blackpool and Tyler Morton was absolutely brilliant.
The young midfielder scored a peach of a goal that represented something that Liverpool fans grew accustomed to with heroic midfielder Steven Gerrard.
Morton scored the third goal yesterday. Jack Bearne, Jarell Quansah and Leighton Clarkson also notched; with Jerry Yates scoring a consolation goal for the Tangerines.
Neil Critchley took a strong team to the Liverpool training ground. Former Reds youngster Matty Virtue was in the starting eleven, with Yates and several other first-teamers getting a run-out.

The Liverpool youngsters were imperious, however. They will now face Burnley or Accrington Stanley in the final as they look to win the competition they claimed in 2017.
Morton is an interesting performer. He’s been training with the first team on a number of occasions and clearly looks set for a bright future.
Back in November, Thiago praised Morton. He called him ‘amazing’ after he trained with the senior ranks ahead of a Champions League game against Porto.
The 19-year-old has made nine appearances for the Liverpool first team. They’ve all come this season and he looks like a real one to watch for the future.
Morton offers timely reminder to Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp
Liverpool have plenty of options in the midfield engine room. As a result, it won’t be easy for Morton to force his way into Klopp’s team.
The German boss has welcomed younger players into his plans before though and he’d have been delighted with Morton yesterday.
His goal was like something out of Gerrard’s playbook and naturally, fans were satisfied after seeing highlights of the lovely strike.
With Liverpool battling it out on three fronts still, the chances of Morton getting a first-team chance again this season look slim.
Yesterday, he confirmed, however, that he’s one to pin your hat on for the future.
