Jurgen Klopp has given Liverpool a clean bill of health ahead of their title showdown with Manchester City on Sunday.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference to Liverpool FC on YouTube, Klopp said The Reds have no injury issues.
“The last time I looked on my smart phone, it looked like everyone was available, yes,” said Klopp when asked on the fitness of his squad.
Fantastic news for Liverpool heading into the biggest game of the season so far.
Good problems to have
With the great news of a fully fit squad to pick from, comes the difficulty of selecting which eleven players to put out.
This game could well decide where the Premier League title ends up this season. With no injuries to contend with, we’ll get a good idea of what Klopp thinks is currently his best team.
In the past, with a fairly limited squad beyond the starting eleven, that was easy to pick. With the exception of maybe one of the centre-back positions, the rest of the team pretty much picked itself.
This season is a different story. So many players have played their part in Liverpool fighting on all fronts. Klopp has done a masterful job of rotating his squad and is now reaping the benefit of that.
Selection question marks
After the relatively convincing win over Benfica on Tuesday, one or two players could have fought their way into contention against City.
Naby Keita in particular had an excellent game in Lisbon. Not many would have him down as starting on Sunday before that game. But his all-action display could see him get the chance to shine again.
Another who could have put a grain of doubt in the manager’s mind is Luis Diaz. The Colombian has exploded onto the scene at Liverpool but has been in and out of the side quite a bit.
Klopp used him for the full 90 minutes on Tuesday while Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino all played a portion of the game.
That could mean he’s in line to start from the bench this weekend. However, he provided a delightful assist for Sadio Mane and scored the crucial third goal himself.
Picking up the Man of the Match award for his efforts, maybe he has convinced Klopp to unleash him against the City defence. We’ll soon find out.
