Liverpool know how to get Mohamed Salah a new contract, according to reports. Jurgen Klopp has made his stance clear to the owners.

This comes from the Mirror. They claim that Liverpool and Mohamed Salah are very much on the same path in regards to a new contract – they just have slightly different ideas of where it leads.

The big issue – money – doesn’t actually appear to be as dramatic as previously thought. In fact, Liverpool did put a £400,000-per-week contract on the table here. So why wouldn’t that get the job done?

The suggestion is that the length of the contract is actually the issue. It’s all well and good for Liverpool to make that offer but if it’s only for a year or two, Salah likely isn’t interested.

Both parties need to agree on the number of years, then. The Mirror believes lowering the weekly amount slightly but increasing the length will likely get this one over the line.

For what it’s worth, Jurgen Klopp has seemingly told the club that he sees value in a long-term deal. The Liverpool boss believes Salah can play at the elite level for many years to come, despite turning 30 this summer.

It’s an interesting one, then, but the answer does look relatively clear. We’d feel confident in Salah being a top play at 33 or 34 and imagine most people would agree with that. If signing him up on relatively big wages until then is the key, Liverpool can get this over the line.

And perhaps that’s why there hasn’t really ever been too much worry around Salah’s contract. There’s a sense that this will always get done and the Mirror’s report goes along with that. It really could be as simple as finding an extra year in the contract.
