Reported Liverpool transfer target Ousmane Dembele could still be preparing for a summer exit from Barcelona.
That’s according to journalist Fabrizio Romano who was given the update on the Que Golazo! YouTube Channel (4mins). Romano says that Dembele is due to meet with Barcelona to sort things out soon.
“There are chances for him to leave for a new challenge in the summer. But everything is open, they’re going to meet in the coming days and the weeks so let’s see what’s next for Barca,” said Romano.

The transfer expert then suggested that many clubs are in the race to sign the winger if he doesn’t extend his contract. Tellingly, there is particular interest from clubs in England.
“I think he has many options particularly in the Premier League,” said Romano. “It’s crazy how many options for Dembele in case he will leave Barcelona. He will have a lot a lot of proposals I’m sure.”
Liverpool in the race
Liverpool aren’t mentioned specifically by Romano in this instance. But The Reds have previously been heavily linked with a move for the 24-year-old.

Last month, Mundo Deportivo claimed that Liverpool could look to the Frenchman as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah.
At one stage in the January transfer window, it looked as though Dembele was certain to leave the club as a free agent. Following unproductive meetings with agents, he seemed set to be frozen out by Barca.
However, he has since been brought back into the fold by Xavi. His performances since then have been impressive. He has been showing the kind of form which prompted the Catalans to spend an unbelievable £135m on him in 2017.

Should they fail to come to a contract agreement, they will lose the player on a free transfer this summer. As a free agent, and still of a good age, Dembele could prove an attractive option for Liverpool.
There have been question marks over his attitude during his time in Spain. But if anyone can iron those things out, then Jurgen Klopp can.
Dembele’s contract demands could prove to be a stumbling block. Although with no transfer fee, perhaps he could still represent a value option for The Reds in case the dreaded Salah departure does occur.
