Former Liverpool defender Jose Enrique has urged the club to try to sign England midfielder Conor Gallagher.
Enrique took to Twitter as Gallagher was putting in another impressive performance for Crystal Palace on Monday night.
“I will love Gallagher at LFC. What a player. Love his quality and the intensity. It will fit perfect in Klopp’s style of play,” wrote the Spaniard.
A breakout season
Gallagher has been a revelation for Palace this season. After a campaign in which he was relegated for West Bromwich Albion last year, few took much notice of his move to Selhurst Park on-loan from Chelsea.
But the rest of the Premier League have been left kicking themselves that they didn’t have Patrick Vieira’s foresight in the transfer market.
Gallagher has scored eight goals in the Premier League as Palace sit nicely in mid-table. Some of the goals have been incredibly memorable and he also has three assists to boot.

But more than the raw numbers, it has been his game-to-game displays that have really caught the eye. He has excelled in Vieira’s midfield and contributed brilliantly going forward.
This has led to a full England call-up and speculation that he could move on permanently from Chelsea this summer.
A difficult deal to do
There’s every chance that Gallagher could still be on the market this summer. But Chelsea’s difficult ownership situation has muddied the waters of what they can do this.
It could be that the Blues end up keeping the 22-year-old. Although the way they tend to operate with their academy products suggests they’ll try to sell him for a big profit if they’re permitted to do so.

That could open the door for a cheeky bid from Liverpool. The Reds could be in the market for a central midfielder this summer and as Enrique points out, Gallagher would slot in well.
Jurgen Klopp is also a fan of the player. The Liverpool boss namechecked Gallagher ahead of his team’s meeting with Palace in September, calling him a ‘really, really good player’ via liverpoolfc.com.
But whether they’re inclined to sell him or not, it seems unlikely that Chelsea would allow a player to leave to a direct rival.
The two don’t often do business and now would seem like a strange time to start.
