PSG are now in pole-position to sign Mohamed Salah if he is to leave Liverpool this summer.

That’s according to Sport, who claim that the French club have ‘burst in with great force’ to provide an offer to Salah.

The report claims that PSG’s offer is ‘complicating everything’ in Barcelona’s own attempts to lure the Egyptian from Liverpool.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side will reportedly ‘spare no expense’ in their bid to bring Salah to Paris. This is bad news for Barcelona who won’t do ‘crazy things’ to sign a player with a year remaining on his contract.

However, there’s more bad news for both interested clubs. That’s because Liverpool reportedly ‘do not even want to negotiate a transfer’ at this stage.

Sorted over the summer

Liverpool fans will be hopeful that the club don’t allow this situation to carry on through the summer.

There were reports over the weekend in The Mirror that Salah is finally close to agreeing terms on a new contract with The Reds.

Those reports claimed that the 29-year-old will sign a four year extension to see out his best days at Liverpool.

With contradictory rumours flying around, it seems that the situation will be resolved one way or another over this summer. For now, Liverpool and Salah need to focus everything on their bid to win an unprecedented quadruple.

A logical, illogical choice

If an agreement can’t be reached and Liverpool were to decide to sell Mo, PSG would seem like a logical destination for him.

With Mbappe seemingly on his way to Real Madrid this summer, they could do with adding another superstar to their squad.

Salah would fit the bill in that respect and they are one of the few clubs who could afford to pay what Liverpool cannot in terms of wages. They would also be one of the very few teams able to muster the financial package to take him from Anfield.

The sticking point over Salah’s contract is widely reported to be due to a difference in views over an acceptable wage. If that is the case, then Mo would likely find no such issues at PSG.

But from a footballing point of view, leaving Liverpool for PSG would be completely illogical. The Reds are competing for everything in the strongest league in the world, under one of the very best managers around.

He recently bagged his 150th goal for the club after which Jurgen Klopp called him ‘outstanding’ via BBC Sport. His legacy at the club is legendary and he’s adored by Liverpool fans the world over.

Why would you swap that? Sign the contract, Mo!
