Liverpool are monitoring the situation of Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler, who’s contract runs out in 2023.
That’s according to Golsmedia who claim that The Reds have ‘followed’ the player in recent years. They claim that Liverpool even made contact with Soler’s representatives last summer.
The talks ‘did not advance’ at that stage. But Liverpool could reportedly return as Soler’s salary is ‘low for big clubs.’ That could mean that Liverpool can trump any contract offer from Valencia.
But Liverpool aren’t alone in their interest. Juventus are claimed to be a main rival for Soler, while there are also suitors in Spain.

The lowdown on Carlos Soler
Due to his contract soon coming to an end, Soler could be available for a knockdown price this summer. He may represent a good option for Liverpool in their pursuit of another midfielder.
Having come through the ranks at hometown club Valencia, he has gone one to make over 200 appearances for them. He also regularly captains the side.
The 25-year-old is a full Spain international and has two goals to his name across six caps. Soler is currently in Luis Enrique’s thoughts and was called up to the national team’s most recent squads.
In terms of playing style he looks to be technically excellent, as you would expect from a Spanish midfielder.

He also has an eye for goal too, and has scored 22 goals across this season and last season. Liverpool are missing a midfielder who can regularly get into, or even anywhere close to double figures in goals per season. Soler could definitely change that.
Valencia aren’t as glamorous-a-club as they once were. Gone are the days when signing players from Los Che was a guarantee of excellence. The club don’t often harbour gems like David Silva, David Villa or Juan Mata anymore.
But Soler looks to be a cracking player nonetheless. With a contract situation that could be taken advantage of, he could be one to keep an eye on for Liverpool.
