‘He looks like a Liverpool player’: Sherwood thinks there’s a rival PL player who just looks perfect for Klopp

Tim Sherwood believes that Leeds United winger Raphinha could be a perfect player for Liverpool.

Sherwood was speaking on The Kelly & Wrighty Show on YouTube via mullafabz (1hr 7mins 17secs). Whilst speaking about Leeds, he singled out the Brazilian as being their key man.

“Raphinha especially in the Premier League this year, he’s the man at the moment who’s standing up,” said Sherwood. “He is dragging them forward. He’s got that guile, playing off the right and cutting in on his left foot.”

The pundit then suggested that the 25-year-old could be a good fit for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

“He looks like a Liverpool player to me, that type. I think he’s capable,” said the 53-year-old. “I think he’s got good shape, got pace, good strength and he sees the pass and gives it at the right time. He looks like he’s got a swagger about him as well and looks like he could play at the highest level.”

No lies detected here. Raphinha looks almost like a carbon copy of Luis Diaz to some extent. Imagine those two on opposite flanks for Liverpool!

The latest on Raphinha

There have been all sorts of rumours flying around about the Leeds player over the last few weeks.

Sport claimed that Barcelona had made the first move for Raphinha and also had an agreement in place with the player.

However, this was refuted by 90min this week. They reported that no club had made any kind of bid for him and that he’s focussed on making sure Leeds stay in the Premier League.

It does look as though he will be moving on this summer, though. And Liverpool have long been rumoured to be in the mix.

Fabrizio Romano claimed last year on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE that The Reds actually made some approaches to Leeds last summer for the Brazil international.

The price was quoted as being ‘over £60m’ at that time. Understandably that was too high for Liverpool to go.

But The Reds are known to track targets over a long period of time. If, as expected, Raphinha does call time on his career at Elland Road, expect Liverpool to be one of the clubs trying to bring him in.
