‘Rinsed’: £30m PL player says 25-year-old Liverpool man has made him look very silly

Aaron Ramsdale has named Liverpool’s Diogo Jota as one of the best opponent players he has faced.

Taking part in Sky Sports Football’s Never Have I Ever series on YouTube (2mins 34secs), Ramsdale was asked if he had ever ‘been rinsed by a world-class opponent.’

“Ronaldo, Aguero, Vardy. Jota – oh he sent me to the shops didn’t he?” said Ramsdale.

“Rinsed. For a goalkeeper there are some goals that you look at and think they’ve made you look like a plonker really.”

Unfortunately for Ramsdale there are a couple of goals that he could be referring to from Liverpool’s number 20.

Jota has slotted four goals past him in four games this season. His opener at the Emirates two weeks ago slithered past the goalie at the near post. Definitely not his finest moment.

But he’s surely talking about the Portuguese’s goal at Anfield to put Liverpool 2-0 up in November.

Jota slalomed into the Arsenal penalty area and left Ramsdale on his back-side with a dummy. He then tapped it into an empty net in-front of The Kop as the £30m ‘keeper watched from the floor.

World-class company

Prior to this season there aren’t many fans, pundits or players who would have described Jota as being world-class.

He had a fantastic debut campaign with Liverpool last season. The 25-year-old also managed to make himself important to his star-studded national team.

But he was still yet to cement himself in Jurgen Klopp’s best team. Jota had also been injured for a spell. Through no fault of his own he hadn’t maintained his good form over a full season.

That has changed this season and he now well and truly belongs with some of the other names that Ramsdale mentioned.

The forward has a career best 19 goals for The Reds and there are still at least 12 more games to play. Jota looks destined to at least hit 20 goals this season. It’s just a shame there are no more games against Arsenal left for him to really boost his goal tally!
