Report: Liverpool staff are convinced they know how Mo Salah will react to missing out on the World Cup

Liverpool staff believe that Mohamed Salah will return to the club focussed on delivering success after his World Cup disappointment.

That’s according to The Athletic, who report that Liverpool staff have ‘no concerns over his mindset.’ In fact, they are reportedly ‘convinced’ that Salah will be ‘even more determined’ to finish the season well.

Salah’s Egypt fail to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar later in the year after losing on penalties to Sadio Mane’s Senegal.

It represents another blow to Mo after losing out in the AFCON final in February. But if he can harness the frustration, as Liverpool staff believe he can, it could turn out to be a blessing in disguise.

Bouncing back again

Upon his return from losing in the AFCON final to Mane, Jurgen Klopp said that Salah was visibly upset. He carries the weight of expectation for Egypt and it obviously means a lot to him to succeed with his nation.

Since coming back from Cameroon, Mo is yet to really find the form that he showed prior to leaving for the tournament.

That may sound harsh on a player who has five goals in ten games since then. But three of those goals have been from the penalty spot.

Salah has looked slightly tired and understandably so. Hopefully this latest setback doesn’t add a further heaviness to his legs and he can return to twisting defenders inside out.

It can’t be helping that his contract situation at the club remains up in the air, too.

Liverpool have plenty of big games for Salah to get his teeth stuck into over the next two months. If they’re to add even more to their calendar, they’ll need Mo to clear his head and get back to his best.
