Tyler Morton has hailed Liverpool teammate Harvey Elliott after the 18-year-old made his England under-21 debut.
Elliott posted on Instagram after playing the full game in England’s 4-1 win over Andorra.
“Honoured to make my England u21 debut last night! Topped off with a great win,” wrote the youngster. “The main man,” replied Morton.

The two are clearly close having been pictured enjoying each other’s company at the AXA Training Centre.
Morton was also involved during this international break. Although he’s actually several months older than Elliott, he is currently in the England under-20’s set up.
The future is bright
It’s surprising that Elliott has had to wait so long for under-21 recognition. Although he is still just eighteen, he has long been regarded as one of the country’s brightest prospects.
Of course his injury earlier in the season set him back a number of months. But even so, he was one of the brightest young players in the Championship last season.

Either way, Elliott was still comfortably the youngest player involved in Lee Carsley’s squad.
That he played the full 90 minutes on Friday goes to show the kind of maturity that Stewart Downing was referring to when speaking about Elliott last week.
Don’t forget about Curtis
Elliott may be the bright young thing in the squad, but it shouldn’t be forgotten that Liverpool currently have two players gracing this exciting England team.
Curtis Jones came on for the final half an hour against Andorra to win his 7th cap at this level. Interestingly, in terms of caps, that makes Jones the most experienced player out of Carsley’s 23-man squad.

When there are players with the experience of Morgan Gibbs-White, Jacob Ramsey, Ben Johnson and Tariq Lamptey all in the squad, that’s a really impressive title for Jones to claim.
No doubt he’ll be showing his younger teammate, Elliott, the ropes. If things go to plan for Jurgen Klopp’s two Young Lions, then this is just the start of a long career together playing international football.
