Fabinho has claimed that he doesn’t have any plans to leave Liverpool in the near future.

Speaking in an interview with FourFourTwo magazine, as transcribed by liverpoolfc.com, The Reds defensive midfielder outlined his happiness at Anfield.

“Liverpool is a special place – there’s nowhere better to play football, so my head is fully focused here,” said Fabinho.

“I don’t know what my situation will be like in four years, but at this moment I only think of Liverpool.”

Fabinho has already won the Premier League, Champions League, League Cup and the Super Cup with Liverpool. He says that the ability to win more trophies is at the forefront of his happiness.

“I don’t think about moving to another team or country because I’m very happy here,” said the Brazilian. “It’s a special club and, most importantly, one which fights for every trophy.”

That’s great to hear. Without Fabinho in the side, the potential of Liverpool fighting for every trophy is instantly reduced.

Ours to keep

There should be little doubt from across the football world that Fabinho is one of the very best on the planet in his position. He has perfected the defensive midfield role during his time at Liverpool.

While other teams search for a player to do what he can do even half as well, Liverpool have tied the 28-year-old down for the long-term.

He wouldn’t have signed a contract until 2026 just last summer if he wasn’t happy at the club. But it’s always great to hear a public declaration of love.

In years gone by, players of Fabinho’s quality would be looking to leave Liverpool at this stage of their careers.

That the number 3 is happy and settled on Merseyside is testament to how far the club has come, as well as the atmosphere that Jurgen Klopp has build within the squad.

Fabinho will leave some big boots to fill when he finally does depart. But with statements like these, Liverpool don’t need to worry about that for the foreseeable future.
