Liverpool and Manchester City are both keeping tabs on 16-year-old Rangers striker Rory Wilson.
That’s according to The Daily Star, who claim that the Scottish youngster is ready to reject a contract offer from the Glaswegians.
Should he turn down the proposal from his current club, Liverpool could sign Wilson for as little as £300,000 in compensation fees.
That looks like a steal for a player who has scored 40 goals for Rangers youth side so far this season – a record the Star call ‘astonishing.’
But Liverpool and Pep Guardiola’s City side aren’t the only ones interested in the teenager. Manchester United are another who are named as being keen to bring him south of the border.
It’s reported that scouts from ‘England’s leading clubs’ will watch him in action for Scotland under-17’s this weekend.

Liverpool’s interest in signing Wilson would be another signal that the club are trying to pack the academy with the best British youngsters around.
Since Brexit, players under the age of sixteen can no longer be brought in from overseas. That seems to have led to a shift in culture in Liverpool’s academy recruitment.
As well as Wilson, Liverpool are also reportedly close to signing 16-year-old Ben Doak from Celtic.
If The Reds were in attendance to watch Scotland under17’s game against Czech Republic on Wednesday night, they would have seen both players at the very top of their game.
Wilson scored both goals as the Scots pulled back from 2-0 down to earn a 2-2 draw.
Doak was also key to the comeback. His individual assist for Wilson’s first was a magnificent show of pace and awareness as he burst through the Czech midfield and laid on an inch-perfect through ball that Wilson finished off.
The two may still be future rivals in the first-teams of their respective clubs. But should Liverpool have their way, it’ll never come to that.
