Liverpool have eyes on Ismaila Sarr as a potential replacement for Divock Origi, according to reports out of Italy. AC Milan also want the player.
This comes from Corriere dello Sport. They claim that Liverpool are ready to join any race for Ismaila Sarr, who will almost certainly leave Watford this summer.
They report that from AC Milan’s perspective, who also want to sign the Senegalese winger. Interestingly, Milan are the side that will trigger interest from the Reds.
That’s because Liverpool want Sarr as a replacement for Divock Origi. The Belgian will almost certainly leave Anfield this summer at the end of his contract to join Milan. The opens up a small place in the squad for someone like Sarr – though, it remains to be seen how many minutes that offers.
Liverpool want Ismaila Sarr to replace Divock Origi
This shouldn’t come as any great surprise. Liverpool supposedly looked at Sarr back in 2020 when trying to sign a forward, per the Echo. He made a three-man shortlist with Diogo Jota and Jonathan David, with the Reds eventually settling on Jota.
But that level of interest won’t fade all that quickly, even with Sarr’s relative struggles in the Premier League this season. He’s still only 24, after all, and described as ‘frightening’ by teammates. The winger is a big, big talent – he just needs the right club.

Liverpool could certainly offer him that but there’s still that question around gametime. Origi might leave, yes, but does he need replacing? He’s only actually had around 71 Premier League minutes this season and that was before Luis Diaz arrived.
We’re not entirely sure that Sarr would play all that often. Certainly, he wouldn’t have a starring role and, potentially, he wouldn’t have a strong enough place in the squad to justify the transfer fee. We can’t see Watford just giving him away, after all.
So this is one to watch, undoubtedly. Liverpool appear to be big fans of Sarr and they could turn him into a very good player. We’re just not entirely sure there’s room for him as things stand.
