James Ward-Prowse has claimed that England colleague Conor Coady ‘doesn’t stop’ talking about Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard.

In an interview with The Times, Ward-Prowse said that there are two players he models his free-kicks on. One is David Beckham, the other is the former Liverpool captain, Gerrard.

“Steven Gerrard would probably be the other one,” said Ward-Prowse. “Conor Coady doesn’t stop talking about him!”

Coady, a former Liverpool player himself, is well-known to be a fan of The Reds. He was at the club with Gerrard and the now Aston Villa manager obviously left a big impression on him.

Gerrard’s pulling power

Although Coady is a Liverpool fan, Ward-Prowse certainly is not. That players of all persuasions still use Gerrard as inspiration shows just how good he was.

It also shows the potential that having Gerrard as Jurgen Klopp’s eventual successor could have on bringing new signings into the club.

The Liverpool icon has already showed the pulling power that he can have at Aston Villa, having persuaded Philippe Coutinho to join from Barcelona.

With respect to Villa, if he can convince a player of the Brazilians quality to move to a mid-table side, imagine the players he could bring to Liverpool.

One player who has already previously gone on record with his admiration for Stevie G is reported Liverpool target Jude Bellingham.

Asked by England’s YouTube channel which past Three Lions player he would like to swap shirts with, Bellingham plumped for Gerrard.

Liverpool aren’t exactly struggling to attract the best players around with Jurgen Klopp at the helm. And should Gerrard succeed the German at his boyhood club, that’s unlikely to change.
