Harvey Elliott says he’s trying ‘week in, week out’ to improve one area of his game in Liverpool training. The youngster is eager to improve.
Liverpool haven’t seen the best of Harvey Elliott yet. In fact, they almost certainly haven’t seen anything close to his potential – he’s still only 18.
The teenager has already shown glimpses of incredible talent, though. There was his outstanding season with Blackburn Rovers last season, as well as some sensational form to kick off this campaign. It’s hard to believe that he hasn’t even had two full senior seasons yet.
There’s a long way to go, then, before Elliott reaches the level everyone expects of him. It’ll take some incredible development on his part but, fortunately, he’s already honing in on areas of his game to improve.
One of those is his speed. Elliott told UMM on YouTube that he’s working on getting faster ‘week in, week out’ in an effort to compete in the Premier League.
“Yeah [I’m working on my speed], week in, week out,” said Elliott. “Obviously, with my injury, I had other focuses but now I’m back, it’s something I’m going to be improving on.
“You come across the Premier League now and basically, every player’s rapid. You need to match it and be up there with the speed otherwise, you’re not going to be able to perform.”

There’s really no obvious limit for how good Elliott can become. Certainly, improving his speed and becoming more of a threat athletically would go a long way to helping him reach the very top.

Goal recently named him the fifth-best youngster in the world and for us, he’s at least that. Elliott can become as good as he wants to be, as long as his mentality remains solid.
It sounds as though that’s the case – Liverpool have a special one here.
