‘Very talented’ player could be about to get relegated, Liverpool should sign him as Origi’s replacement – RTK View

Liverpool should consider Emmanuel Dennis as a potential replacement Divock Origi. The Belgian reportedly leaves this summer.

It now seems certain that Divock Origi will leave Liverpool this summer. His contract expires, there’s little suggestion of a new one, and Fabrizio Romano believes he has ‘many, many chances’ to leave. In fact, Origi has reportedly told the Reds that he is off.

Now, that won’t surprise many. Origi has barely played this season, with his total Premier League minutes sitting at just 71. Quite remarkably, he’s scored twice in that time.

Origi has long been a wonderful option in reserve for Liverpool, capable of jumping into any game – no matter the stature – and threaten. He’ll be a loss, even if his game time is limited.

It’s up in the air whether Liverpool will try and replace the 26-year-old. After all, they’re not exactly using him very often and Luis Diaz’s arrival limits his games even further. But he’s still someone who has popped up with five goals this season.

Liverpool also must consider that Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mané are all moving past 30 this year. Their futures will be up for debate in the relatively near future – it does make sense to have a younger forward waiting in the wings.

And we think Liverpool should have eyes on Emmanuel Dennis for that very reason.

Emmanuel Dennis for Liverpool

Dennis currently plays for Watford, where he’s had a very interesting season. Nine goals and five assists stand out as fantastic numbers, especially in a side that sits 18th. No wonder Claudio Ranieri labelled him a ‘very talented’ player.

What’s particularly impressive, too, is that Dennis delivers from multiple positions. He has goals as a striker and a winger on both flanks – the ultimate squad player for the right team.

Liverpool could be that team. Dennis would be able to offer depth across the forward line and at 24, there’s fantastic room for growth. The Nigerian could easily develop into a good player for the club – there’s an outside chance that he becomes a great one.

That’s because Dennis’s stats look really interesting. He has the goals and assists, of course, but his defensive numbers are great as a forward. He sits in the 88th percentile among forwards in the top five European leagues for presses per 90 and indeed, no one at Watford presses more than Dennis.

He’s good at it, too. The forward is 94th percentile in the top-5 leagues for tackles, 95th for interceptions and 92nd for blocks. Dennis is a very hard-working forward who defends from the front and, importantly, can find the net, too.

And should Watford face relegation, there’s a potential bargain for Liverpool here. What more can you want for that squad role?
