Former Liverpool defender Fabio Aurelio has claimed that Andy Robertson is the best left-back he’s ever seen.
Aurelio was taking part in an interview with liverpoolfc.com. The 42-year-old was asked where Robertson ranks in terms of players he’s seen feature in the position.
“If you look at the whole full-back role, he is complete in defence, in attack, he can score goals, he has pace, he has stamina, he is aggressive,” said Aurelio.

“So, he has to be at the top of the list, you can’t say different than that. His numbers talk for themselves.”
It’s a bold claim from the Brazilian, who knows a thing or two about playing left-back for Liverpool. Having played 134 times for The Reds over six years at the club, he is well placed to judge Robertson.
Assist machine
Aurelio is right. The numbers that Robbo is producing are absolutely unbelievable. Trent Alexander-Arnold may receive more acclaim, but Robertson has produced even more Premier League assists than his full-back colleague.
Trent has 44 assists in 155 Premier League games, Robertson has 49 in 211. In the left-back stakes, only Leighton Baines can claim to have provided more goals. He has just nine more in over 200 more appearances.
Robertson has been back to his best recently after a tricky beginning to the season. He looked fatigued after starting every Premier League game in an exhausting season last time around.

But Kostas Tsimikas has now reached a level where he can step in without too much of a drop-off. That has allowed the Scotland captain to take some much-needed time off.
After a slow-ish start on the assists front, the 28-year-old now has six assists in his last nine games in the league.
As Aurelio says though, his game is about much more than just setting up goals. He is excellent defensively and plays with a tenacity that has made him a crowd favourite on The Kop.
Robbo seems to get better year on year. He will already go down as one of the best ever Liverpool left-backs, but if he carries on the way he is, Aurelio won’t be the only one labelling him as the best ever.
