Roy Keane explained why Jurgen Klopp is one of ‘the best’ around after seeing the Liverpool boss speak today. The Reds beat Nottingham Forest 1-0 at the City Ground.
Liverpool saw off Nottingham Forest on Sunday – just. This was a far tighter game than most expected, with the hosts having more than their fair share of chances to win the game.
In fact, Liverpool’s winner – a fine finish from Diogo Jota – came just 90 seconds after Forest’s own golden opportunity to take the lead. The team rode their luck here but got away with it.
Now they’re into another semi-final, Jurgen Klopp’s first in the FA Cup. They’ll take on Manchester City, too, and it comes just a week after their crunch Premier League tie at the Etihad. In fact, there’s a Champions League second-leg for each side sandwiched in between those games.
This is a very, very bust period coming, then. Liverpool will fight on three fronts in an attempt to secure a historic quadruple. Fortunately for them, they appear to have the right manager to do it.
Roy Keane told ITV that times like these are what prove the likes of Klopp and Pep Guardiola are ‘the best’.
“This is why Klopp and Pep are the best,” said Keane. “They’ve been on this road before with their club, with their previous clubs.’
“They’re used to the demands. Klopp’s obviously relieved but he still looks fresh [in his interview] – these managers look like they’re ready for this challenge. They’re in safe hands with Klopp and Pep. They’ve been on this road before.”
Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool
Keane is absolutely right as Klopp appeared calm and fresh in his post-match interview. He was ready to give praise to Forest, was smiling, laughing – there was no obvious weight on his shoulders.

And that’s exactly what Liverpool need right now. They need someone who will keep things calm and measured even with the intense pressure surrounding every game. He’s been here before (though, admittedly, not cashing a quadruple) and that experience carries through everyone.
