Report: CL club blown away by ‘incredible’ Liverpool player’s display against them, now they want to sign him

AC Milan want to sign Divock Origi from Liverpool after his performance against them earlier this season, according to reports. The Belgian looks likely to leave.

This comes from CalcioMercato. They believe that AC Milan want to sign Divock Origi from Liverpool this summer.

Paolo Maldini, Milan’s technical director, apparently leads the charge. He loved what he saw from the striker when he played at San Siro earlier this season.

Origi scored in that fixture – a goal that proved to be the winner. And it clearly left an impression on Maldini, who believes he could secure the striker in the summer.

That’s certainly possible as Origi’s contract does expire. Liverpool can trigger an extension by using him enough times this season but the competition up top makes that look unlikely. Instead, clubs like Milan will surely lineup to sign him on a free transfer.

And for what it’s worth, CalcioMercato claim Origi is very interested in the idea of moving to Milan. This one might just work out, it seems.

Divock Origi could leave Liverpool

It is looking more and more likely that Origi departs this summer. It also makes sense that a team who played against him – twice, actually – moves to sign him.

Origi is bizarrely underrated in football, presumably because Liverpool don’t use him enough. But the fact no one has put in a decent offer to sign him up to now confuses us. His goal record is very strong, there’s a track record of scoring in big games and he’s still only 26.

Jurgen Klopp considers Origi to be ‘incredible’ from a technical standpoint and you’d think other clubs would see that. It took a goal against Milan to really get them in the running, though.

And it would be a great move for Origi, to be fair. They’ll almost certainly compete in the Champions League next season and both Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Olivier Giroud are getting on in years. Origi could quickly force his way into a strong position.

So we’ll wait and see. We do expect Origi to leave this summer and Milan sound particularly interested.
