Fabrizio Romano has said that Mohamed Salah wants a contract offer from Liverpool that’s in line with other ‘top players’ around Europe.
Giving an update on his YouTube channel (3mins 6secs), Romano shared his information of what the Liverpool man is asking for.
“He wants an important contract as important players have in the Premier League, in La Liga in Serie A, in the Bundesliga, in Ligue 1,” said the journalist.

“Top players have top contracts and this is what Mo Salah’s asking.”
However, Romano claims that Liverpool’s wage structure won’t allow for such an increase. This is preventing a deal from getting done.
“But Liverpool Football Club won’t change. They will not change their wage structure, so this is why the situation is getting complicated,” he said.
What happens next
Salah’s contract situation has been rumbling on for some time now. Ideally Liverpool would have got this sorted last summer along with the spate of other renewals they oversaw.

The last thing Jurgen Klopp needs is for the transfer window to roll around without an agreement in place. That would leave Salah with just a year left to run on his deal and offers could well come in for the Egyptian.
Barcelona have already been credited with a strong interest in the 29-year-old. That seems fanciful at this stage. But if Liverpool have made the decision not to improve their offer to Salah, then it could be that they attempt to find a buyer this summer.
That would be incredibly sad for Liverpool fans across the globe. But according to Romano, the ball is very much in Liverpool’s court.
“It’s up to Liverpool to decide what they want to do, if they want to try again to reach an agreement with Mo Salah,” he said.

It’s disappointing that this sideshow is occurring as The Reds attempt to win an unprecedented quadruple.
Salah has been key to the success of this season so far and any distractions the Egyptian may be facing could be detrimental to the team’s chances of further silverware.
For Salah’s part he is reportedly happy at Liverpool and wants to continue with the club. Let’s hope an agreement can be found soon or Liverpool could stand to lose one of their greatest ever players.
