Jurgen Klopp confirmed on Tuesday that two Liverpool players will likely miss the game against Arsenal. The Reds welcome one back, however.
It seems Liverpool will be without both James Milner and Kostas Tsimikas against Arsenal on Wednesday evening. That’s according to Jurgen Klopp, though there’s a chance things change.
In brighter news, Ibrahima Konate will be back to take a place in the squad.
“Yeah, Konate is back,” Klopp told a press conference. “Millie and Kostas, at this moment, are out. I think that’s it. They’re ill.”

Not ideal, then, either if Milner and Tsimikas are unlikely starters for a game like this. Both are tremendous squad options, though – we could easily have seen both come off the bench.
Illness keeps them out for now. Klopp appears to leave the door slightly open to them being fit but it doesn’t exactly sound promising. Liverpool must find other ways to offer something from the bench.
Not that Klopp will struggle to do that with this group of players. The Reds boast their strongest squad possibly ever, with the only real ‘problem’ here being that Andy Robertson can’t afford to struggle. Milner and Tsimikas are the two other options at left-back, after all.
Konate being back is a boost for Liverpool but we don’t expect him to start this. Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip have been two of the absolute best centre-backs in the Premier League this season and surely get the nod for a game like this.
The other big question is Mohamed Salah, of course. Klopp gave a separate update on the Egyptian ahead of the Arsenal game – but it appears we’ll have to wait and see on that one.
All in all, not too much for Liverpool to worry about but certainly not a full squad.
