Jamie Carragher has said that he’d swap a potential quadruple for Liverpool this season if they can win the Premier League or Champions League.

Carragher made the comments whilst speaking on an Instagram Live post (22mins 37secs) from Gary Neville.

Asked by his MNF co-host how many trophies Liverpool can win this season, Carragher claimed he’d ‘bite someone’s hand off’ for one of the two biggest prizes.

“You know if someone offered me right now, one of the big ones – the Premier League or the Champions League – I’d bite their hand off,” said the former Liverpool man.

“If someone said you can have the Carabao Cup and the League or the Carabao Cup and the Champions League I’d bite their hand off.”

It’s a view that is surely echoed across the fanbase. Liverpool have done exceptionally well to be still in the running for an unprecedented quadruple at this stage of the season.

Unfortunately the reality is that a clean sweep of all four trophies is very unlikely to happen.

Winning the Premier League or the Champions League is the main aim for Liverpool going into every season right now. Either would be a remarkable achievement given the resources of the teams they’re up against.

Jurgen Klopp has led Liverpool to both trophies in the recent past. But after seeing their team lift the league title in front of an empty Anfield in 2020, to come out of this season with the Premier League trophy would be extra special.

Of course there is still a lot of football to be played this campaign and anything can happen. Manchester City’s failure to beat Crystal Palace last night is evidence of that.

That result means that if Liverpool beat Arsenal tomorrow night, they’ll move to within a point of City.

Making up for lost trophies

Klopp will have to keep utilising his current squad depth and keep his fingers crossed that Liverpool stay injury free.

Something often levelled at the 54-year-old is that he hasn’t won enough with this Liverpool team. If The Reds could do the impossible this season then that criticism would be laughed out of the room.

If anyone is capable of collecting all the prizes that football has to offer, it’s this Liverpool team.

But we’re with Carra, if The Reds can add just one more trophy to their Carabao Cup win this season, let it be the Premier League.
