Jamie Carragher believes Luis Diaz can lead Liverpool to a ‘special’ season. He couldn’t help but thank Daniel Levy.
Luis Diaz shone once again for Liverpool as he scored the opener against Brighton on Saturday afternoon. It was a brilliant goal, too, as he bravely took a hit to beat the goalkeeper there.
The run was a fantastic one – something we’ve become used to already from Diaz. The Colombian is fitting in like a glove and should even improve.
All in all, Diaz is helping to push Liverpool on another level. They’re chasing a quadruple as things stand, after all, and the winger’s start genuinely increases those chances.
Jamie Carragher believes Diaz can be the catalyst for a ‘special’ season with this start – and Liverpool have Daniel Levy to thank.
“Luis Diaz’s impact could turn this season into a special one for [Liverpool],” he wrote on Twitter. “The club only signed him in January because Spurs made an offer, thanks, Daniel!”
Luis Diaz shines for Liverpool
Carragher is alluding to reports that Tottenham Hotspur were close to signing Diaz but Liverpool accelerated their own plans as a result. The Reds likely would have waited for the summer, meaning the Colombian is only at the club right now because of Spurs.
So yes, thank you for that.

Diaz was great again against Brighton but it’s just the latest in a run of wonderful displays. He passes the eye test with ease but all the data suggests Liverpool have a brilliant player here, too.
There’s a lot to shout about and much like Carragher, we believe he can be the catalyst for a special season. Liverpool can rest and rotate their forwards with ease right now. It’s something that guarantees a certain level of quality across three competitions and Diaz is a huge part of that.
