Steve McManaman believes Luis Diaz is a star at Liverpool already. He sees an even brighter future for the Colombian.
Everyone is talking about Luis Diaz right now – and rightfully so. He looks electric already, consistently lighting games up with some terrific performances.
It’s been a bit of a shock, honestly. Diaz arrived at Liverpool midway through a season and with four incredible forwards ahead of him in the pecking order. That’s a difficult environment for any player to arrive in an excel – especially when the standards at Anfield are so high.
Diaz is making it look incredibly easy but Steve McManaman wants to make it clear that it isn’t. He’s had his own experience moving abroad to an elite team, having left Liverpool for Real Madrid in 1999.
The Scouser says what Diaz is doing it impressive – and he’s only going to get better.
“It’s very difficult [moving to a club like this] and you have to work hard,” McManaman said on BT Sport. “The fact he’s hit the ground running on the pitch, that’s certainly going to help him.
“And as Crouchy says, he’s only going to improve now. The more he settles, the more he gets a house, the more he gets on with his teammates. He’s going to be brilliant.”
Luis Diaz at Liverpool
It’s not just a case of Diaz passing the eye test, here. All the data shows just how well he’s playing – and how well he’s fit in at Liverpool.

And McManaman is absolutely right. This should just be the beginning and Diaz continues to perform despite things holding him back. The more he adapts to his teammates – and the country – he’ll only get better.
So we’re excited, as everyone else seems to be. Diaz appears to be the latest in a long line of successful Liverpool signings – long may it continue.
