On-loan Liverpool defender Nat Phillips says he understands the boos at Bournemouth. The Cherries struggled at the weekend.
Bournemouth had a poor result this week, drawing at home with Peterborough. Posh are the bottom club in the Championship right now and have just five points on the road now – not a good result for Bournemouth, then.
Especially as the Cherries attempt to force promotion back to the Premier League. The result actually put them back into second – an automatic promotion place – but the two dropped points might come back to hurt them.
And that was enough for the home crowd to boo Bournemouth, who of course boast on-loan Liverpool star Nat Phillips. The centre-back says he understands the frustration, however.
“It’s not nice to hear as players, but you can understand it, certainly,” he told the Bournemouth Echo.
“I’ve grown up as a football fan, all the boys have grown up as football fans, you don’t want your own fans showing their disappointment.
“But I think they were within their right to.
“We expect better of ourselves and we know what we’re capable of and we’re capable of more than what we put in and expect more than what we put in.”
Nat Phillips away from Liverpool
A very understanding response from Phillips, here. He didn’t really have to be that understanding, we don’t think, given Bournemouth do have three games in hand on their rivals.

Promotion would be a wonderful thing from Liverpool’s perspective. Phillips is busy showing he can find success away from the Reds and assuming the plan is a summer sale, that will impress potential buyers.
So we won’t be too worried about the boos. Bournemouth are still doing well and Phillips is still well on his way to achieving something special there.
