Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Real Madrid could be the club Jurgen Klopp manages after leaving Liverpool.

Romano was speaking on the Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE YouTube channel (16mins 14secs). The transfer expert said that the Liverpool boss has always been attracted to managing in Spain.

“I think there are chances for him to leave in 2024 to try a new experience. He’s always been, from what I’m told, attracted to La Liga,” Romano said.

“So who knows what happens with Real Madrid, with Barcelona in the coming years. Now in Barcelona they’re super happy with Xavi, but in Real Madrid let’s see what’s next for Florentino Perez for the new manager.”

For Liverpool fans the prospect of Klopp leaving is a nightmare. To see him managing another club would be difficult to stomach.

The 54-year-old is arguably the best coach in the world right now. He has transformed Liverpool into a club the supporters can be proud of once again.

There remains hope that Jurgen will stay beyond his current expiry date in 2024. But for now, it looks likely that the 2023/24 season will be his last on Merseyside.

Where else might he go

Romano goes on to say that Klopp wouldn’t be short of options were he to leave the club where he has won a Premier League and Champions League title.

But of course as of now, the German is fully focussed on winning silverware with Liverpool.

“I’m sure that many clubs will try to approach him,” said Romano. “But at the moment Klopp is only focussed on Liverpool.”

Klopp and Liverpool are a match made in heaven. According to Robbie Folwer via The Daily Mirror, the boss reportedly turned down the Manchester United job before taking over from Brendan Rodgers in 2015.

It seems that he doesn’t just want to take any old offer that comes his way. Having spent seven years as coach of Mainz 05 and then the same amount of time at Borussia Dortmund, Klopp likes to take on a long project.

At Real Madrid, manager’s come and go almost as often as Mohamed Salah goals. It doesn’t feel as though Real, with all their riches, chime with Klopp’s outlook.

But then again, Madrid are one of the most visible clubs on the planet. For many working within the game, they are seen as the pinnacle of the sport. For others, they represent everything wrong with modern football.

In Klopp’s case, that isn’t for us to judge. For now, all we can do is hope is that the manager decides to put pen to paper on new, long-term contract at Liverpool.
